Genetics Project
Due on Monday, May 2nd Project topics to pick from: 1. Pick a disorder that has been helped using stem cell research, describe the disorder, give the latest research and explain how stem cells have played a role in the treatment. 2. Pick a type of cancer, describe how the cancer forms and what parts of the body are affected, give the latest research and include the treatment methods used to stop the cancer. 3. Pick a genetic disorder that is caused by a DNA mutation or a chromosomal mutation (you cannot choose sickle cell), describe the genetic disorder and include the treatment methods used to help with the effects of the disorder. Each student will turn in two topics of interest on Monday, April 18th. You will need to write your topics on an index card. On each side of the card give the name of the topic, a description of what you plan to present (3-4 sentences) and one source you have found and used. After reviewing the topic choices, making sure that we do not have duplicates, I will let you know what topic you can do your presentation on. |

Science Reference Center- Huge database of periodicals, academic studies, and ebooks related to science!
Britannica- online encyclopedia (like wikipedia). Great place to start.

EasyBib makes it easy to cite websites and books. Please be sure to double check the automatic information. You will likely have to add some stuff, like the date, author (if known), and proper titles.
